The wire flower and gemstone bracelet making project consists of two main parts, the making of wire flower components and the making of wire and bead components.
1. Making the Wire Flower Components
a) Take a little wire, file the end with a jeweler's file, and use round-nose pliers to make a curl on one end of the wire. Please kindly remember that it is much easier to work with longer wire than shorter wire. Normally, the length between the 6 to 8 inches is fine.
b) Use round-nose pliers and grasp the straight wire right next to the first wire curl to form the second petal of the wire flower.
c) Use fingers to wrap the wire around the nose of the pliers.
d) Remove the pliers from the wire.
e) Repeat the b to d steps to make the third petal. (You can also learn this technoque in the " How to Make Wire Triple Loop")
f) Finally, again grasp the straight wire with round-nose pliers. This part can be a little tricky because you are so close to the other three wire flower petals. Use your fingers to wrap the wire around the nose of the pliers, and if necessary, adjust the pliers a little so that you can get all around the nose.
g) Use wire cutters to cut the flower from rest of the wire.
h) File the last end of the wire (on the fourth petal).
i) Gently flatten the wire flower a little between the jaws of the nylon-nose pliers.
j) One of the flower component is done and according to the length requires, you can make several wire flower components following the steps above.
2. Making the Wire and Bead Component
a) Use chain-nose pliers, grasp about 2 inches down on the wire, and bend the wire into a 90 degree angle. Then grasp the angled part of the wire with round-nose pliers, and use your fingers to wrap the wire around the nose of the pliers to form a loop.
b) Keep the round-nose pliers in the wire loop, put your pointer finger on the round part that is around the nose of the pliers, and pick up the chain-nose pliers with your other hand.
c) Grasp the end of the wire with the chain-nose pliers and wrap it around the straight part of the wire.
d) Slip on one of the beads onto the wire.
e) Use chain-nose pliers and about 1/4 of an inch past the bead, bend the wire into a 90 degree angle.
f) Grasp the angled wire section with round-nose pliers.
g) Using your fingers, wrap the wire around the nose of the pliers to start forming the second wrapped loop.
h) Holding the round-nose pliers in the wire loop, use chain-nose pliers to wrap the wire around itself. Thus, the wire flower and
bead component is done.
Now, the final step is to assemble the two parts together to make the wire flower and gemstone bracelet. Take a wire flower and slip it through one of the wrapped loops on one of the gemstone sections. Continue to alternate between wire flowers and the gemstone bead components till you end up with the last wire flower component.
Then, take a sterling silver
spring ring clasp and slip it onto the last wire flower component. Till now, the wire flower and gemstone bracelet is generally finished. To make sure each component is securely connected, you should go back and check, using chain-nosed pliers to help close up any gaps, if needed.
