Lampwork beads can be created simply by a torch and rods of glass. These lampwork beads of various sizes, shapes, and designs are prefect for making bracelets and necklaces. Follow the instructions below, you can make your own special lampwork bead bracelets.
Materials needed to make the lampwork bead bracelet are lampwork beads, beading wire, bead caps, toggle clasp, crimp beads, crimp bead covers, crimping pliers, wire cutters, spacer beads
The lampwork beads are better to be slightly larger than the other material so that the bead caps will effectively protect the glass; while the spacer beads should be smaller as the lampwork beads will become your focal points.
1. Design your special lampwork bead bracelet on your bead board and you should also measure your wrist to know the length of the bracelet you need.
2. Layout your bracelet. Play with the beads until you have arrived at your final design. Make sure that you have included your toggle clasp in the design, and place a spacer bead and crystal at each end closest to the clasp sections to allow some room for movement.
3. Cut your wire using the wrist measurement you took in Step 1, adding an additional 6 inches to the length. For example, if your measurement is 18 inches, you will want to cut a piece of wire 24 inches long. Thread a crimp bead and one half of the toggle clasp on one end of the wire. Thread the wire back through the crimp bead, leaving about a 1 inch tail. Crimp the bead using the crimping pliers. Place the crimp bead cover over the crimped bead and secure.
4. Thread the beads, onto the wire, making sure to place the first few beads over both the wire and the tail, according to your design. Bead caps should be threaded so that the lampwork bead nestles between the two caps. Once the design is complete, place a crimp bead and the other half of the toggle clasp onto the wire. Thread the wire back through the crimp bead and continue threading it through the last 2 to 3 beads on the wire. Crimp the bead and cover it with the crimp cover. Secure the cover. Trim the excess wire tail with wire cutters as close to a bead as possible.
