Triple loops are commonly used in many jewelry designs, which work well on clasps and headpins. With a few easy steps, you can also make your own wire triple loops.

Materials: Round-nosed pliers, Wire cutters, A few inches of wire, Jeweler's file

The amount of the wire you need and gauge depends on the project you want to make. For a clasp, at least 3 inches of 20-gauge half-hard wire is needed. For a head pin, 24, 22, 21 are all suitable.

Steps::

1. Use a jeweler's file to file both ends of the wire smooth.

2. Now position your round-nosed pliers so that one end of the wire is about in the middle of the pliers' nose
.
3. Using the pliers, curl one end of your wire to make a loop.

4. Position the nose right next to the curl and do another curl to make a second loop.

5. Repeat this again next to the second curl, and make sure you straighten up the remainder of the wire so that the triple loop section is at one end and the rest of the wire is coming straight up. This will allow you to use it as a head pin or form the rest of the wire into a hook to make a clasp.
